London based Portuguese singer Mai Kino describes her music as being as existing 'on the verge of waking up', and we think with her fluid new single 'The Waves', she has hit that description clean on the head. Deliciously dark but also comforting like a dystopian nursery rhyme, she is an artist of spine-tingling talent. The stripped-back electronic track especially makes the best use of Kino's voice, pushing it to the forefront with minimal distraction and the rumbling drum beat only raises it up further.  Deep, sensitive and interesting, Mai Kino has a bewitching quality. - SJ
